This is a booklet published by the Association for distribution to the public, free of charge which sets out all you need to know about arranging a funeral.
It also contains advice on bereavement support and can be supplimented if required with a booklet on arranging a pre paid funeral.
The Association recommends pre paid funeral arrangements as it allows the arrangement of a funeral prior to the event and accordingly takes the responsibility away from relatives at their time of grief.
Money paid for a pre paid funeral in usually invested in a friendly society and is not retained by the funeral director. Because of this the funds invested are safe and most of the costs of the funeral are included. Some cemetery cost however, are often not included in pre paid plans.
At the time of death, the funeral director receives the funds invested plus any interest gained and is required to conduct the funeral arrangements that have been included in the contract at no additional cost.
